In Greece, there is a concept called "quiet hours" (ώρες κοινής ησυχίας), which regulates the time when silence should be maintained to avoid disturbing others who are trying to rest.
According to Greek legislation (Article 10 of Law No. 4637/2019), violating public silence is punishable by imprisonment for up to 5 months and/or a fine.
Quiet hours vary depending on the season:
Summer period (April 1 — September 30): from 15:00 to 17:30 and from 23:00 to 07:00;
Winter period (October 1 — March 31): from 15:30 to 17:30 and from 22:00 to 07:30;

During these hours, the following are prohibited:
all work and activities that create noise,
playing musical instruments or operating devices such as radios, tape recorders, or televisions at high volume,
shouting, dancing, noisy events, loud conversations, etc.,
the use of sirens, other sound devices, or security systems without extreme necessity, as well as their trial operation.
