The Greek Tax Authority has noted that through online platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, enterprising individuals are selling homemade cakes, clothing, cosmetic services, renting out properties, etc., without registering as sole proprietors and, consequently, not paying taxes to the state.
As a result, the Greek tax authorities have established special departments for monitoring social media. Their function is to identify and locate individuals who sell their services through social media but evade paying taxes. In an interview, the head of the tax authority, Mr. Pitsilis, stated: "We monitor everything on social media, and we have special digital tools. There is a dedicated team that identifies offenders..."

On September 20th, tax auditors, accompanied by the police, conducted an inspection of a manicure specialist offering her services at home in the city of Chania, without the proper registration of her business activity. She was fined 35,000 euros.
So, if you are engaged in business activities and plan to actively promote your business on social media, it is time to consider official registration!
